The third generation Britax B-Ready “G3” debuted in the summer of 2018. In general, the B-Ready is a nifty all-terrain stroller that can easily convert from a single to an inline double, and is extremely easy to maneuver and fold, even in doubles mode. We’ve always been a fan of this stroller, so we were eager to write this Britax B-Ready G3 stroller review!
The G3 comes in a pretty range of colors — Nanotex, to Pistachio, to Lapis (light blue), Navy, Haze (dark grey) and Black.

Britax B-Ready G3 Stroller Review: Size & Weight
Just to be clear, the Britax B-Ready G3 is not your lightweight stroller. At 30 lbs in singles mode and 34.9 lbs in doubles, this bad boy is heavy, but remember all convertible strollers are. It’s a robust double stroller that can hold 90 lbs of baby meat, so the frame is heavy duty. The primary stroller seat can hold up to 55 lbs, while the second seat (sold separately) can accommodate tots up to 35 lbs (roughly your average 3-year-old).
Note that if you have a newborn you’re intending to put in the “second seat” position, you can attach your infant car seat (we’ll discuss more about compatibility in a bit).
The B-Ready G3 is approximately 24” wide – the same width as a single – so it will fit well through standard doorways. This is the beauty of an inline stroller vs. a side by side.
Car Seats/Bassinet
The B-Ready G3 utilizes a Click & Go System that allows for a quick connection with any Britax infant car seat (such as B-Safe 35, Endeavours and B-Safe Ultra) without the use of extra adapters. It’s super simple to use — the car seat just clicks right into the stroller’s frame.
If you don’t own a Britax brand car seat, the B-Ready G3 is also compatible with some other major infant car seat brands — mainly the Euro brands such as Maxi-Cosi, Cybex and Nuna, when used with the Britax infant car seat adapter. If you own a Chicco, Graco or Evenflo seat, you’re out of luck.
Please note that to use a car seat in the lower/secondary seat position, which many people prefer (because this keeps their older child in the larger main seat where they can see and fit better… ), you must also purchase the lower infant car seat adapter ($24). It would be nice if this accessory came with the G3, but alas… it doesn’t.
It’s important to note that when placed in the lower/secondary seat position, the car seat can only face forward.
Seats
At the outset, we should tell you that since its two seats are different sizes, we don’t think the Britax B-Ready G3 is the best stroller for twins. It can be done, of course — but there are better options. Like the UPPABaby Vista V2, this stroller is ideal for kiddos of different ages.
While it might not be the most versatile convertible stroller we cover, the Britax B-Ready G3 has 12 different positions, as well as the ability to take two infant seats at the same time.
The primary seat (top seat) can face forward or backward, so your child can look at you or the world. It also has a 4-position recline, though it doesn’t lay completely flat; therefore, babies under 6 months need to ride in a car seat or bassinet.
Note that the second seat (the lower seat) is stacked under the first seat, stadium-style (below). Some parents object to this configuration on principle (he won’t be able to see well!), though in my experience, the kid on the bottom doesn’t really seem to give a darn 😉. Thus, it seems to be more of a problem for parents than anyone else.
Converting the Britax B-Ready G3 from a single to a double using the second seat or a car seat:
To attach the second seat…
- Fold the back of the storage basket up into itself;
- Lock stroller to keep it in place so it doesn’t roll back;
- Slide and click the second seat in at the rear of the stroller, and pull it up to lock it into the position you want.
To keep your older child on top and attach the car or bassinet seat in the lower position…
- Zip off the back of the basket;
- Attach the lower adapter to the rear of the stroller above the basket;
- Click in the car seat facing inward;
- Click in the primary seat at the top (note that the stroller weight will be much more even with the car seat at the bottom and the primary seat on the top).
Attaching two car seats
- Click in one car seat in the rear, like mentioned above;
- Click the second car seat up top; no need for adapters if it’s a Britax car seat.
Unlike the Baby Jogger City Select, which takes the second seat in the front, this stroller’s second seat goes in the back. What does this mean for you? Well, if you’re a “power strider” (you know who you are!) and tend to kick the backs of strollers, this is probably not the stroller for you. Pass Go and collect $200.
Canopies
The G3 has an extra-large canopy on the main seat to protect your child from the elements, with a Velcro-operated peek-a-boo window and ventilation for breathability.
The second seat also has a canopy with full coverage and a ventilation window (below).
Basket
The G3’s basket is actually huuuuuge and can fit a lot of belongings (diaper bag, jackets, diapers/wipes, toys, etc.). However… when you add in the second seat or a car seat down below, it definitely scrunches the storage space and makes it more difficult to access the basket from the back. You don’t have this problem with strollers that place the second seat in the forward position, such as the Vista.
To combat this issue, Britax added a zipper to the front of the mesh basket so users can access the storage basket this way (see photo below).
Brake & Handlebar
The G3 has a linked parking brake — a braking system that allows you to lock both rear wheels by pressing on just one pedal. When the lock is engaged, an indicator turns red; when the lock is released, the indicator will turn green. Easy peasy.
The G3’s comfort grip handlebar is height adjustable, but it’s the rotating kind of adjustment (vs. a telescoping adjustment) — not quite as elegant as others, but adjustable nonetheless.
Maneuverability
Again, the benefit of having the weight added to the back of this stroller (when the second seat is attached) is that it makes for excellent maneuverability and easy turning. This is especially helpful if you live in hilly terrain — it is very, very difficult to steer a front-heavy stroller, like the City Select, around hilly terrain. The G3 pops onto curbs MUCH more easily than others in its class. In fact, this and the UPPAbaby Vista V2 are the most maneuverable convertible strollers, IMO. This makes the G3 a good pick for those who don’t have very good handicap ramps, and/or who have to pop the stroller up a lot.
Tires
The G3 features “forever air” foam-filled rubber tires (8” in the front and 11” in the rear) with all-wheel suspension. The all-wheel suspension makes for an incredibly smooth ride over all kinds of terrain, from gravel, to mulch, to hills, as previously mentioned. Plus, since they’re foam-filled, the tires will never go flat.
Accessories
Like most higher end strollers, the G3 doesn’t come with accessories (not even a cup holder!), so you’ll have to purchase the accessories you want separately. Some of these include:
- Car seat adapter for Maxi-Cosi, Cybex and Nuna
- Britax B-Ready G3 Second Seat
- Child Tray
- Stroller Organizer for parents
- B-Ready G3 Lower Infant Car Seat Adapter
- Britax Stroller Board for a third, older child
Fold
This stroller features a simple, one step fold, and the best part is that it folds with both stroller seats attached. YAH! This is my favorite feature of this stroller — for sure. Let’s face it, getting two kids and a stroller into the car is hard enough without having to take stuff apart.
Once folded, the G3 automatically locks which makes for easy travel and storage.
As mentioned, this stroller is on the heavy side. Many users note that lifting it into the trunk takes some serious muscle. That said, depending on what kind of car you have, it should fit into your trunk. If not, you can pop the back wheels off to make for a better fit.
All in all, the G3 is an awesome pick for people who place a premium on easy folding and maneuverability.
Bottom Line
All in all, the Britax B-Ready G3 is a luxury-ish, all-terrain stroller in singles mode and a compact, easy-to-maneuver, easy-to-fold stroller in doubles mode. This stroller is best for parents who value maneuverability and ease of folding (with both seats attached!), at the cost of access to storage (in the back) and seating versatility. It’s especially great for parents who live in hills and/or need to pop the stroller onto curbs, but not ideal for power-walking parents with long strides. We also like the price, which is less than half of luxury strollers like the Vista V2. All of these features make the B-Ready G3 one of our favorite convertible stroller values on the market.

If you have this older version, you can use it on all Britax B-Ready strollers made after 2016. This one is only compatible with the G3 version, however.

If the bottom seat is fully reclined, do you kick the head of the seat while you walk? My kids will be 2 1/2 years apart, so the toddler will quickly outgrow the bottom seat and we’ll have to put the baby in it. I can’t seem to find any pictures with the bottom seat fully reclined for an infant, so nervous about how it will work. Thanks!

No, if you put baby fully reclined in the lower seat, you shouldn’t kick the head of the seat while walking. It’s made to recline fully for this very purpose. You can also put a car seat in the lower position using adapters. Good luck!
