UPPAbaby Vista V2 Stroller Review – Top Convertible Luxury Pick

The UPPAbaby Vista, one of the top strollers of all time, got a much-needed facelift in early 2020, and is now called the UPPAbaby Vista “V2”.

UPPAbaby Vista V2 in Noa

Like the City Select, this stroller can convert from a single to a double, using the Rumble Seat, and even carry an older 3rd child with the addition of the Piggyback Ride-Along Board. Loved by parents of singletons, twins, and two or three kids of differing ages, the UPPAbaby Vista V2 is a solid, luxury pick (as you would hope for the price — HA!).

UPPAbaby VISTA V2 Stroller Review: What’s New on the V2

Before we get into the general review, let’s discuss what’s NEW on the UPPAbaby Vista V2.

First off, the new Vista V2 offers a beautiful new set of 9 colors — Noa, Alice, Bryce, Declan, Emmett, Gregory, Greyson, Jake Blake, Jordan, Stella and Finn — all of these colors are named after the employees’ children. Seriously, these new colors are really gorj.

Other changes to the V2 include upgraded wheels for better maneuverability, an indicator on the front wheels to signal whether the wheels are locked or unlocked, a roomier Toddler Seat to accommodate taller kids, a redesigned canopy for added ventilation and sun protection, and a no-rethread harness for easier adjustments.

The price also jumped up to $1,099.

Car Seat Compatibility

Like the previous model, The UPPAbaby Vista V2 can accommodate two infant car seats, two bassinets, two toddler seats, or any combination of these. That’s what makes it so great for kiddos of different ages, as well as for twins!

Like it’s predecessor, The Vista V2 is compatible with the UPPAbaby Mesa car seat without the use of an adapter. It’s also compatible with the following car seats with an adapter

  • Chicco KeyFit, KeyFit30, Fit2
  • Clek Liing
  • Cybex Aton and Cloud Q series
  • Maxi-Cosi Mico Max 30, Mico AP, Mico NXT, Mico, Citi, Cabrio and CabrioFix
  • Nuna PIPA, PIPA Lite and PIPA Lite LX
  • Peg-Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 and 4-35 Nido

Note that car seats, stroller components, Rumble Seats and accessories from 2015-2020 are all still compatible with the 2020 UPPAbaby Vista V2. This makes people who already own some of these accessories very happy.

If you’re not familiar with the Vista, one of its bragging rights is the beautiful bassinet that comes along with it (yes, whether you want it or not). It’s an industry favorite, and you can use it anywhere and everywhere, including for overnight sleeping!

This is one of the main differences between it and its copycat, the Mockingbird; for the Mockingbird, you must buy the bassinet separately.

See also: Mockingbird Stroller Review.

The bassinet has a removable, breathable mattress pad with a vented base and mattress for breathability. It’s super well-ventilated (the back of the canopy unzips for additional airflow) and even has its own UPF 50+ sun canopy! Yes, this bassinet is the cat’s meow.

As mentioned, you can use this bassinet for naps or overnight sleeping — to get it off the floor, you can snap the bassinet into the bassinet stand, sold separately (below). Please note that the bassinet is suitable from birth up to 20 lbs.

Seats

One of the best things about the Vista is the seating versatility; whether you use it as a single with one seat, a double with one seat and the Rumble Seat accessory, a seat and bassinet, or more, the Vista offers a wide variety of seating configurations to meet your family’s needs.

The main seat (the toddler seat) is suitable for babies from 3 months to 50 lbs — is reversible, meaning that your baby can face inwards, toward you, or outwards, toward the world. It also offers 6 recline positions, which can be adjusted using just one hand to raise and lower the seat. The seat’s footrest also moves in tandem with the backrest to create a super comfy and cozy napping space for your little one(s).

The second seat (i.e. the Rumble Seat) is suitable for kiddos from 3 months to 35 lbs, and offers all these same features. You will notice the difference in weight capacity of these two seats, 50 lbs vs. 35 lbs. Thus, it’s not an ideal stroller for older twins because the Rumble Seat will be outgrown much quicker than the main seat.

The Rumble Seat can be added and removed from the frame easily and quickly with the included adapters. The Rumble Seat also comes with a bumper bar, bug shield and a removable canopy with an extendable UPF 50+ sunshade.

The Rumble Seat also works on the Vista and Vista V2.

Again, the main seat on the V2 has a higher seat back (20” up from 19” on the 2019 version) and a deeper footrest (2.5” up from 2” on the 2019 version). This will certainly prove helpful for bigger, taller kiddos, and will extend the usable life of this stroller for your oldest kiddo (a good thing, considering how expensive it is!).

If you have an older, 3rd child, you can also add the UPPAbaby Piggyback Ride-Along Board ($119).

Canopies

Also new on the Vista V2 is the redesigned canopy on both the toddler and rumble seats. These newer canopies offer better sun coverage and airflow, baby! The seats now have three large panels to offer more shade, plus a zip-out feature on both the first and last panels, which gives way to mesh peek-a-boo windows — great for added ventilation and to keep an eye on your tot(s).

Storage

The upgraded storage basket on the Vista V2 is ah-mazing! The V2 basket has a sleeker design and also includes a storage pocket for those smaller items you don’t want getting lost in the bottom of the basket (phone, wallet, keys, snacks, etc.). It’s huge and wide, and very easy to access from both the front and back of the stroller.

Unfortunately, the already pricey Vista doesn’t come with a parent organizer, cupholder or snack tray for your kiddos — it’s a bummer those accessories aren’t included, but you can purchase them separately. However, the stroller does come with both a rain and insect shield.

Handlebar

The Vista V2 offers a leather-covered telescoping handlebar that adjusts for height, which is one reason why it’s super popular with taller parents (and parents of differing heights).

Brake

UPPAbaby did not change their flip-flop friendly foot-operated braking system on the V2.  Simply tap the brake pedal once to engage it, and tap again to release it. Easy to do with summer shoes — or even barefoot!

Fold

The Vista has a super easy, one-step fold. The best part is that it can fold with the second seat on! You know I’m a big fan of that! Bonus: it stands on its own when folded for easy (and clean) storage.

Bottom Line — the UPPAbaby Vista V2 is an incredible convertible stroller for those who can afford it, much like it’s predecessor (the regular Vista). The build quality is top notch and the features are downright impressive: the telescoping handlebar, the HUGE storage basket, the badass bassinet, the easy (standing) fold, and the versatile rumble seat. If you’re looking for a luxury convertible stroller you can use for years to come with your growing family, you won’t be disappointed. It holds up nicely on the resale market as well.

  1. I wish I would have known about your website when I first started having kids! But I’m so glad I found you! I just read your review of the UppaBaby Vista stroller and would like to mention that, while it is pricey, you are able to make payments on it on Amazon with an Amazon card for 12 months with 0% interest! This may be helpful info for those who will cringe at the price tag but really love the stroller.

    1. Hi Diana! We are so glad you’ve found us now!
Thank you so much for this info — I’m sure readers will find it super helpful!

      1. Hi! Having a hard time deciding between the Bugaboo Fox2 and the Uppababy Vista V2. Any opinions? This is our first baby.

  2. My wife and I purchased an UPPAbaby Vista less than a year ago and the stroller has major problems! In less than a year the main frame had to be replaced TWICE, the plastic joint that holds together the seat broke off rendering it unusable and the bolts that hold the joint frame are now loose and falling out. To add insult to injury UPPAbaby has some of the WORST customer service ever. They never answer their phones or return your emails. Lastly when you do finally get in touch with them they will argue with you about replacing the parts. We are first time parents and were talked in to spending extra money on the UPPAbaby Vista over a Bugaboo Fox, I regret every wasting my money this poorly made stroller. I suggest you look at other brands for your stroller needs.

    1. Hi Chris,
I’m so sorry to hear about your negative experience with UPPAbaby. This is truly a shame.
Thank you for sharing with us.

  3. Hi Marissa, thank you for the helpful review! My oldest child will be 2 years and 4 months when my second is born. I currently have the Cruz and planned to use the ride along board but now I’m starting to think I need a double stroller. Wondering if you agree (?) and if yes, based on their age difference, if you think the Vista or the City Select Lux would be more appropriate. I do feel like my oldest would love the bench seat down the road but I don’t know if it’s worth giving up the ease of folding I would have with a Vista. I wouldn’t need to be be folding it every day, just for errands in the car and what not. Many thanks!

    1. Hi Katie! You should definitely go with a double stroller for a 2-year-old. I shared your question with Meg to get her expert take, and here’s what she said regarding the Vista vs. City Select Lux:”Vista vs. CS Lux, I would say Vista is easier to steer, maneuver, is better for hills, curb pop. Lux gives you that cool bench seat option, but is a little more unwieldy. CS Lux is better in flat places.”
So essentially, if you live in a hilly place, the Vista is better for sure. But if you are into the bench seat and will be strolling over mostly flat terrain, you’d likely be happy with the City Select Lux.
      I hope this is helpful!

    2. Katie, THANK YOU for your comment! I am in almost exactly the same situation – our first child will be 2 years and 5 months when our second arrives in November. We currently have (and LOVE) the Cruz, but have been trying to decide what to do once we have two babes. Marissa and Meg: thanks for the info! This is super helpful and gives me peace of mind that the Vista will be a worthwhile investment.

  4. Hi there, I am considering getting the UPPAbaby vista Sierra, any thoughts how the durability of this colour? Will
It be a nightmare to keep clean? Thank you.

    1. Great question — let’s see if any of our readers who own this particular color can weigh in!
I’ll see what I can find out about it, too.
      Thanks for reaching out!

  5. Hi, I think we’re going to go with the Vista2. I’m due at the end of February. Any guidance on best time to purchase? Black Friday sales, Nordstrom sale in January, etc.? Trying to maximize our spend this year. Thanks!

    1. Hi there, Sam! Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Unfortunately, UPPAbaby rarely goes on sale, but occasionally does during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale (summer), and you can also check places like Magic Beans and Albee Baby, which mark down older models periodically.
      Good luck!

      1. Hi – are you able to use the toddler seat in the lower position or only the rumble? If using the stroller with the Mesa Car seat, I’m trying to determine if I can have my infant up top and 35+ toddler in the lower position. The pics I’ve seen all show the Mesa down low and the toddler seat parent facing. Thanks!

        1. Hi Emily,
Unfortunately, you are not able to use the toddler seat in the lower position — only the rumble seat. And the rumble seat only accepts kiddos up to 35 lbs. That said, you CAN attach the Mesa car seat to the lower position of the Vista V2, but you’ll need lower and upper adapters (to create more space between the car seat and toddler seat for your oldest up above). Here is some helpful info on this — and the adapters you need for each configuration.
          Good luck!

  6. Hey Marissa,

We have an Uppababy Vista 2018. Our toddler seat has recently torn. Would we be able to use the V2 toddler seat replacement? We also have one wheel that sticks occasionally that we’re hoping to replace. Do the parts for the V2 work for the 2018 Vista?

    1. Hi Maria!
I would definitely verify this with a local retailer or Uppababy, but from what I understand — yes — you can use the V2 toddler seat on the older 2018 model as well as the other parts, such as the wheel.
      This info is from Strolleria:
“The frame of the UPPAbaby VISTA hasn’t changed since 2015, so car seats, stroller components, RumbleSeats, and accessories from 2015-2020 are compatible. The 2020 UPPAbaby VISTA RumbleSeat V2 will fit on older frames from 2015-2019 but has a few different features, like the redesigned canopy and no-rethread harness.”

  7. Hello! Any thoughts on whether scratches are more likely, or appear more, on the black frames vs the silver ones?

    1. Users do tend to say that the black frames show more scratches… but use it enough, and both will probably show some wear and tear over time! But if you’re really concerned, go with silver. Good luck!

  8. Hi!

Excellent review, by the way. I agree with your bottom line in fact the whole review! I would like to add, the Vista V2 2020 release is still one of the most dynamic convertible double stroller and is yet relevant in 2022. I consider its dynamic cause it fits in a wide range of accessories. My kids loved the ride. My oldest is a fan of the Piggy board; I am a true fan!

  9. I’m surprised that you constantly rate the Uppababy Vista as a better double (or single to double) than the bugaboo donkey. The bulky fold of the donkey aside, it is a much better stroller in double mode. The Vista feels very cumbersome and I found it harder to push with the rumble seat – comparing it to the donkey which I’m able to push in double mode over gravel or grass or cobblestone with complete ease. My tall almost 4 year old still has room on the seat with the Buffalo seat fabric and the narrow width of the seats doesn’t bother my kids in the slightest. The wheeled board that you can add on the donkey is also a step up from the Vista because there is an actual seat the child can use – and the canopies on the donkey cover more of my child than that on the Vista. I also have to add that you seem to dock points on the donkey because it’s just a status item but I’d disagree – in the United States the Vista is far and away a better known and more popular stroller than any Bugaboo so if you dock one for snobbish reasons you should be fair and dock the other as well (personally I bought the donkey for practical reasons because it fits with my lifestyle and makes my daily commutes much easier!). I write this as someone who has pushed both and who also lives in a European city (read: narrow doorways and tiny shops) and who uses the Donkey daily for everything from school drop offs to grocery pickups and outings to the park.

    1. Hi Christine – thanks for the useful comparison.
These 2 strollers are very different from one another: a side by side vs. a tandem. I don’t rank the Vista over the Donkey, per se – they are too different to compare head on. As a city dweller, I’m guessing you aren’t folding it up and getting it in and out of the trunk (and such). That makes you the ideal user for the Donkey, so that’s great! Parents who do have to fold it and haul it around perhaps would not be as satisfied (these are very different uses).

Perhaps Bugaboo doesn’t have the celebrity cachet it once had. Years ago, people would buy Bugaboo just for the brand name, and some were disappointed with their purchase, which is why I point this out (also, I do think their usability has improved).
Thanks again for your comment –
      Meg

  10. When our second arrives my oldest (now 2 years, 9 months) will be 3 years, 3 months. I’m thinking about the Vista V2 or the Mockingbird and keep going back and forth. I did see that the toddler seat on the V2, which my oldest would use since she’s 36 lbs now, is higher up. Leaning towards the Mockingbird because of the seating versatility, albeit the max weight limit is 45 lbs for either seat. Figuring with the ride-along now available she could use that too as she gets heavier. Any recommendations?

    1. Hello Leah! Congrats on baby #2! So these two strollers are very similar, but each have their own unique nuances. Check this article out — this may help inform your decision. Good luck!

  11. Wow, what a comprehensive and detailed review of the UPPAbaby Vista V2! I really appreciate the in-depth analysis of its features and improvements. The addition of new colors, upgraded wheels, indicator on the front wheels, and a roomier toddler seat make the V2 even more appealing. It’s great to know that it offers compatibility with various car seats, making it convenient for parents with different needs. The included bassinet with its ventilated design and sun canopy sounds fantastic for naps and overnight sleeping. The seating versatility and adjustable features are definitely a bonus. The redesigned canopies, spacious storage basket, and easy fold make it a practical choice. Though the price might be a consideration for some, the quality and longevity of the Vista V2 are impressive. Thank you for sharing such a thorough review!

  12. What an insightful review of the UPPAbaby Vista V2! As a mom currently in search of the perfect stroller, reading about your firsthand experience with this product has been incredibly helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience with the UPPAbaby Vista V2. Your insights have certainly made my decision-making process much smoother, and I’m excited to explore this stroller further based on your positive encounter with it. Happy parenting!
