Top Double Strollers for Jogging

A high-quality, true double jogging stroller will allow you to run with your kids whenever you want, which will keep you sane and keep them comfortable and entertained. [See also: Best single jogging strollers.] Because you can’t always leave the kids at home to go running, we’ve compiled our list of our fave double joggers.

Babies

What about babies and running? The commonly held rule is that babies need to be about 6-8 months before running with them in the stroller. Yes, even in their car seat. Otherwise, it’s just too much jostling around for their little baby brains – especially during the first 3 months when they have no neck control.

I’ve heard some doctors say you can jog with a baby as young as 4 months, ahhhnnnnd I’ve heard others say to wait a year. Bottom line is if this is something you’d like to do, discuss it with your child’s pediatrician.

What about Economy Double Joggers?

Jogging with kids is a major undertaking that requires robust gear. The forces of running combined with the weight of two kids produces a lot of… inertia. Hence, the “economy” category is REALLY tough.

Understanding that not everyone can afford a $500 jogger (right?) – I have two pieces of advice:

  1. Buy used– you’re much better off with a high-quality used stroller than a brand new cheap stroller that won’t last. Like exercise equipment collecting dust in everyone’s basement, many people buy good joggers and don’t end up using them. At the end of the day, I’d rather have a used BMW than a brand new Kia. Just sayin’.
  2. Buy new– with plans to re-sell it when you’re done. The ones we recommend here (with the exception of the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger) should hold up well over time and give you pretty good re-sale value, especially if you take good care of it.

Better yet, do both!

Fixed or Convertible Front Wheel?

I could tell you all about a fixed wheel vs. a swivel wheel in this category… but it’s a moot point. As of right now, there are no fixed wheel double joggers on the market — and there haven’t been for a while, since BOB discontinued the Ironman line. Sorry, folks! (But I’m not too sorry because a fixed wheel double jogger would be a nightmare to get around with)…

Here are the best double jogging strollers, from least to most expensive (full reviews below):

Our Favorite Doubles Stroller for Running with Babies and Toddlers

$ — Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger ~ $249 – An Economy double jogger that works for many, but not the greatest build quality.

$$$ — BOB Revolution Duallie Flex 3.0 ~ $799 – Top Pick (tie) – Our favorite (tie) swivel wheel all-terrain/jogging stroller with air-filled tires. Excellent build quality, will last forever (and high re-sale value). The “push” and maneuverability is like no other, but the fold is a bit cumbersome. Perfect for runners and all-terrain enthusiasts alike. In this category, see also Thule Urban Glide 2 Double.

$$$$ —Thule Urban Glide 2 Double Stroller ~ $849 –Top Pick (tie) – The most expensive, but the best all-around performer for a swivel wheel double jogger. There are small things that edge out BOB and Baby Jogger — lighter weight, easy to fold, large covered storage, awesome canopies that swivel, ergonomic handlebar, car seat compatible. Winner winner, chicken dinner!

1. Baby Trend Expedition Double

Price: ~ $249
Weight:
32.5 lbs

Note: This stroller is also listed in the all-terrain category.

This stroller is called a jogger — and some people (who actually run with it) are happy with it. Many, however, are not — mainly because of the front wheel wobble and eventual failure. Thus, it’s listed here as an option, but if you are a serious runner, I would advise something with a better build quality.

Excerpt of Review:

“Raise your hand if you’re a parent of two (or twin parent!) who likes to jog! If that’s you, we’ve got good news: a jogging stroller that can fit two kiddos up to 50 lbs (that’s a total of 100 lbs of baby meat!), rides well, and won’t break the bank.

Coming in at just around $200, the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogging Stroller is a popular, well-reviewed economy stroller. A downright bargain!

OK: let me be completely honest, the materials and build quality are not the greatest… but people seem to be happy (very happy, in most cases) for the value they get for their money. Let’s take a closer look.”

2. Bob Revolution Duallie Flex 3.0

Price: $799
Weight: 33.1 lbs

The BOB Revolution Duallie (that’s a fancy word for double) offers the same great ride that you experience with the single BOB, but twice the fun.

EXCERPT OF REVIEW:

“Typically when studying customer reviews, you see a fairly even distribution of likes and dislikes: 1 star, 5 stars, and everything in between; not so much with this stroller.

The vast majority of the reviews of this stroller are 5-star, making it VERY highly rated. Prior to Thule emerging on the scene, it used to be a runaway favorite double jogger (no pun intended). Don’t get me wrong, we still like it very much, but note that it’s now pretty much tied(ish) with the Thule Urban Glide Double.

YES, this is a great running stroller — in fact, I’ve been running with it frequently. BOB used to make a fixed wheel jogging stroller called the Ironman, which has since been discontinued..”

3. Thule Urban Glide 2 Double Stroller — TOP PICK (TIE)

Price: $849
Weight: 34.2 lbs

We saved the best (and most expensive, LOL) for last.

EXCERPT OF REVIEW:

“We first visited Thule (pronounced “TOO-lee”) at the 2016 Baby Show and were very impressed with the Urban Glide (both the single and double version). Thule also has an awesome trailer that can also be used as a stroller (and a ski pulk!), the Thule Chariot Lite.

A little about Thule: it’s a Swedish company founded in 1942, and it’s exceptionally passionate about creating products — from bike racks, to luggage, to cargo carriers, to strollers, etc. — for active families who enjoy being outside. Yes, sports and the outdoors are at the heart of the Thule brand.

We are super excited about the Thule Urban Glide 2.0 Double, which made its debut in 2018, and just recently got a facelift at the end of 2020 (it’s even sleeker than before!). Note that the “2.0” denotes that this is the 2018 model, not the fact that it’s a double.”

We thought long and hard about which double jogger to buy (and checked here as well). We had a single BOB but I liked the sleeker longer of Thule Double knowing that a double jogger would be a beast. Ultimately my husband and I agreed that we would be happy with either and would buy whichever we could find cheaper (buying new). We found the Thule on sale and I have to say now having used it 6months, I had down prefer if over all 5 (yikes) of the strollers we own! It maneuvers well and is a smooth ride for our kids. I actually prefer it over pushing our single BOB!

There is a fixed wheel double running stroller on the market – Thule chariot! We love it for running with our 2 year old and 8 month old. They are extremely versatile, with interchangeable parts available for running, walking, skiing, and biking. Great option that I highly recommend!
